Atwell College (or Atwell Prison as it is known to some) has spend money on the new and nice signage at the front (Admin office), however, the ladies at the front are generally rude to students and not much better to parents! It's no wonder students do not show much respect. You really should hire people at the front who have more empathy, better personalities and want to be there to make a difference. There is also one rule for some and another rule for others. For example, Mr M seems to go around chatting to the 'LGBT' students and does not penalise them for wearing leggings, torn jeans and shocking make up which is a complete distraction but suspends the NON-LGBT students who wear appropriate leggings. Even the Deputy had leggings the other day! It would be great if you could focus on the teaching and lead by example in a non-threatening style. Leadership is an action, not a position! Some let their position in the school get to their head and lose the vision of what it is to be a good leader. It's not about the role but about the goal! |

this school is awful, the teachers dont care about students that are depressed or being bullied and would rather suspend a kid for the wrong coloured shorts. they dont care about grades and most the teachers are awful and dont teach. the front receptionist lady is so unprofesional and rude. they dont handle any problems properly and care more about trying to change there reputation. honestly do not go here or send your kids here |

The school uniform policy has taken over the students education. Heads of learning go around to find students who are not wearing a piece of correct uniform, they enter classrooms and distrupt learning, student services and front office staff are rude and you can hear them shouting over the phone when your child is calling you for help. It is obvious learning is not a priority at Atwell College. |

I am currently in year 12 doing the top maths at Atwell College. My maths teacher, Mr Hilton, quits on us and has stopped teaching. He sits in his chair and tells us to learn everything ourselves. He taught us nada for more than 8 weeks now. We have to see Mr Lam to be taught any maths. |

Bunch us year 12s told the deputy principal Cicco about the abuse from the teacher and nothing is done. Later that day, we were screamed at for standing up. This happened for 2 weeks. Do not let your children have Hilton as the maths teacher. All he does is shout and sit there to catch his breath to should again. You learn nothing. Do not trust the teachers. If you care about education go anywhere else but here. |

After hearing lots of old, re-told negative stories about Atwell College I will admit we were hesitant about sending my daughter to this school. It was only because she has a lovely group of friends from a local primary school that were all going to Atwell College that we felt okay with sending her there. We now look back and think it's the best decision we have made - she has the same lovely, supportive group of friends and has met similar natured friends at the school who she enjoys being around. The teachers have been very supportive and I cannot fault the feedback and communication they have given us as parents - far more than I was expecting from a high school. The new principal is also fantastic and very proactive. I think if your child is going to look for trouble they will find it anywhere (even the most exclusive schools) but if you have a good child who wants to do the right thing and learn it is a great school for them. Ignore all all the old stories you hear from past years and give the school a go! |

I love the school, kids might look mean but in reality there really kind and i haven't seen anyone get bullied. the teachers are amazing, i used to go to a private school and get D's and now i'm getting A's. Although i'm not in AEP but i love the school. There are over 60 electives to chose from and if u don't like one u can change |

Recently my son was king hit in the face by another student 2 years older Earlier this year my son was punch by a student same age group. In both instances my son did not fight back The most appalling thing is the school student services actually feel sorry for the two students who hit my son. Suggest not to press charges against the students. As it may have a negative effect on them Not once did they feel sorry for my son and the long term effects it may have on his future WOW so shameful of that school and the policy |

This school has such a bad reputation which it does not deserve at all! My parents were very hesitant to send me here considering the reputation but were amazed at how my attitude to learning and grades changed so posistively. At every other school i had dreaded going to school everyday and found myself constantly in a bad mood, but it all changed when i move to atwell. I am so thankful for all this school has done for me, amazing teachers, good students. It made me want to start planning for my future and made me so ambitious and excited for my future. Nice kids and teachers. Best school i have ever been too! - Levent Kilinc xoxo |

please do not send your children here, been working here for 2 years and its completely obvious that the teachers here do not care about the children's education or future, only care about their paychecks |

Teacher took student's phone even it's not school time. It was so mean. Terrible school!! Do not come to this school. I am serious!!! Also some teachers do not teach students well so students don't know what exactly they have to do. |

It is ok, learning content is good-If you get a good teacher that is. Some teachers struggle to explain things in a way all students would understand or have inaffective teaching methods (mostly with not teaching things that are in a test or only giving students worksheets with no hands on activities). The most effective teachers are found in the AEP program, though some can be over expectant and can sometimes miss those who might struggle to keep up. However, most teachers are good. Classes with routy students can become chaotic, and class time can be wasted, but is usually made up for with extensions. Fights can occur between these routy students and can create big commotions which do eventually die down. Toilets are hands down appalling, but classrooms are well set up. Overall, Atwell college is almost tolerable. |

No school is perfect, but it's not always the teachers that are to blame. The disrespect some of the students show them is appalling, but if you show that you actually want to learn then they make even more of an effort with you. I moved to atwell when I was in year 9 and its been the best decision I've made. Anything is better than Divine Mercy College! |

Good teachers, easy education, take bullying very seriously, very nice students. Stay with good groups of kids who make good decisions and you'll find this school a breeze. |

Finally got to the bottom of why my daughter has had so many days 'sick' this year, she was bullied there as a year 7, I thought it had resolved in year 8 after making complaints last year, but no, apparently that made this year even worse for her. Her grades have slipped and what had been a happy, confident and outgoing xhild has turned into a withdrawn and often argumentative one. Spoken to other parents and the school has a reputation for ignoring bullies, stories of drug use by 12 year olds is also shocking. Wont be returning next year, she will be going to a private school, even if i need to work 10 jobs to get my child out of this school and commence rebuilding her self esteem and turning out to be a successful and happy human being I will. |

Worst school in the world. I've met some manipulative, alcoholic, smoking friends there and those people have twisted my future. I used to love science and I used to study hard but now I can't find interest in anything except video games. I used to draw, read, play piano, do martial arts, and do word searches all as hobbies but now I've been reduced to TV and games. I've tried so hard to get back into my old life but I seriously can't. Atwell College isn't just a school with rude students and poor teaching. It's a school that's messed up my future. I've moved schools and in my semester report in that school I've failed pretty much every subject. To any parents reading this: if you truly love your child, do not send them here, for they will turn out like me, from a healthy human being to a pile of dust, for that is what I value myself as at present. If you care about your child's self-esteem, please don't consider this school as even an option. I'm not sure why it exists, actually. I'm not sure why this school is even still here. To a large chunk of WA's population Atwell is just a bad school, but to me it's the camp for lowlife smokers. I've met some of my old friends from Atwell even after I moved schools, and they've tricked me into stealing other people's belongings. See? This is just the sort of thing that Atwell students have grown a reputation to do. |

My child is constantly bullied and nothing gets done about it.The students are rude and most of them go to school stoned or have alcohol in there water bottles.I feel sorry for the bus drivers that have to transport there inconsiderate rude students. The principal is obviously not strict enough. And I've heard of students constantly bullying the students at the Kim Beazley centre. They are well aware of the mean students that are causing innocent kids life to be hell, but they seem to walk around the school like kings..Come on Atwell college get your act together!!!!! |

Atwell College is one of the most unorganzied schools. If you want to do well and have a chance of getting into Uni you must get into the AEP program, if you don't mainstream won't get you there. Mainstream teachers can't control classes making it a disruptive environment and barely a learn able place. Needs work |

Can not believe this school. My son was suspended for something a peer did. He was in the library at the time, and I was told he was guilty by association. That's right- he was suspended because he was guilty by association! I've also had a phone call saying that my child was seen leaving school grounds when he didn't even go to school that day- he was at hospital getting a broken bone set. And on other days he has been absent, I have never received any absent notifications. I have seen many students leaving school grounds during school hours, students throwing stones at cars after school and I know that a teacher who used to teach there was fired on child abuse charges! I know a lot of old students who are now on meth or teen parents, and a ridiculous amount of students drop out after year ten. The drug and alcohol problem is appalling. Students smoke in the school toilets and bring alcohol in their bottles. Students go out drinking after school and on weekends- my friend had to pick up her daughter from one of those little "gatherings"- her daughter's excuse was that she wanted to go because her friends went. Her daughter so desperately wanted friends and to be included- she has been severely bullied in the past, and has come home crying from school often- once she was even set upon walking home from school by a group of girls- now she is too scared to walk alone. The school's response to the bullying was to ignore it, they refused to set up meetings with the parents of the bullies and teachers so that they could discuss it, and said they couldn't do anything about the incident because it was out of school hours. However, when my son had an argument with a fellow student outside of school he was given detentions for being intimidating (my son only wishes, lol)! His "friend" wasn't given any punishment, even though they were both at blame. I'm very annoyed the school can discipline my child for his argument outside of school but will do nothing about a young girl being assaulted. A lot of the teachers are horrible- I have heard stories of a teacher who laugh and discusses inappropriate things with a group of girls at the school- the popular girls. I have heard of not only one teacher being fired for abusive behaviour, but another teacher who taught when the school first opened who was fired for grabbing a boy by his neck!! Some teachers are excellent- my son in particular really liked his English and Sports teachers, but others appear to show favouritism and are not at all professional- his girl classmates were called sluts by a teacher because of their skirt length- disgusting conduct by a teacher, to call young girls such degrading and abhorrent names, regardless of their clothing. There are so many little incidents that have happened that my son has told me about that I find shocking, and I have heard reports from ex-students and parents of students who attended in the past- apparently the school has improved! Would hate to imagine what the original bunch of 2008 students were like. On good notes- I don't have a problem with the education my son received- the school curriculum seemed to a good standard, and the sports program was quite good- my son loves sports, especially rugby and loved his sports teacher there. Unfortunately that isn't enough for me- my son can do rugby and other sports after school- the environment he was in did not satisfy me, so I have enrolled him in another school. |

The school shoves kids into electives/classes they did not chose and do not want to do.Then refuse to let them change to ones they want to do.Do they realise at all by doing this it is stuffing kids futures.Kids pick these classes/course because they want to either do future study that requires them to do these or they want a job in that industry.I don't care if you say this class is full,my child wants to study something specific yet you want to shove him/her in classes he/she doesn't want to be in ,then expect them to want to learn. This is half the problem at the school and it causes kids to do nothing in class, one teacher passed every kid in his class despite most of them not even doing any work in it because he knew they didn't want to be in the class after asking them and wanted to teach the kids that did want to be there without the others disrupting them. The way incidents are handled by the school is rubbish as well.Repeat offenders are just constantly suspended and excuses are given as too why they don't expel them.Constant bullying is not dealt with. The schools absentee system is a joke, parents constantly get text messages saying their child is absent when the child has been at school the entire day. |

I would say Atwell College is a good school, but sometimes the schools government get a bit over their heads. The school work load they give us is wow, and they don't seem to understand what that does to us. We students at school get very stressed and overwhelmed, but they still give us more :/ |
