I attended APHS back in the mid to late 70's, I came from a private school due to the discipline dished out everyday in the form of a cane & decided to go to APHS & started in year 8 till I left after completing year 10 on a Friday & went straight to work at the age of 16yrs old the following Monday.The government didn't force you to go on to years 11 & 12 as they do now, however I understand the reason why as the curriculum has shifted & hearing from comments here that teachers you like & dislike, nothings changed I hear.
My advice to students is the idea to stick to the same vibration you enjoy, meaning friends & teachers alike, make the best of it, use your vision & create what you want, & most of all use common sense as that will be your guide after you leave school, use your critical thinking skills wisely in class & forever ask questions enough to make the teacher leave the room to do their homework. It' not about who's right & who's wrong, it's about the truth in learning.
For most young men & women, learning a trade is as good a Uni degree if not better & more tangible in finding suitable work basically anywhere in the country.
So whilst your still there, hang in, do well take care & avoid the clot shots

Trust me I am an Employee and I just quit because of the staff and students They smoke around the school both staff and teachers.The staff bullied me everyday due to my accent and looks. Trust me don't go to this school or sent your kids.

Arthur Phillip is a great school with many awesome teachers and students. I would highly recommend that you attend this school! I have already started learning in the high rise building and the building is amazing in my opinion! I honestly couldn't ask for a better high school.

This school is really bad in terms of students, teachers and property. It's also really strict when it doesn't need to be and the teachers yell too much when they get angry. Some can be really biased on students too and the new principal yells a lot. If you want an education, please DON'T come here it's a waste of time

Slightly below mediocre at best. The education isn't the best, but as with most schools, if you put in effort, you're bound to succeed, as long as the environment is decent enough.
There are a plethora of schools that top APHS and are fairly easy to get into, however, as long as you are a dedicated student, there isn't much of a problem.

I don't understand why everybody is hating on this school on these reviews. Honestly if you're put in the right class and you actually make an effort for the good of your education, it's actually a really good school with plenty of opportunities given including the wide range of electives. Just don't get yourself involved with the bad students and concentrate on your s*** and you'll be fine. I'm really enjoying my time a lot here in APHS and I recently joined the school last year. I heard people talking really bad about this school but you can't always listen to what other people say. If you really wanna know how good this school is, join and see for yourself don't listen to other people's opinions because in my case everything I heard was bs. Maybe I just got lucky to be put in a good class with good people around me but idk. Maybe it's different for different people.

Honestly I'm very pissed off at this gay school. There are some teachers that are really good but most teachers pick on you for small mistakes that you did in the past and sometimes hate you for the people you talk to and the way you look or act. The reason i'm moving schools is because i always get picked on by teachers and i'll give you examples:
These two kids were on their phones and the teacher repeatedly told them to get off their phone but didn't confiscate it but i was doing my work the whole period and my mate was giving me my phone back which i let him borrow to call his mum and when i was about to put it in my pockets the teacher told me to give me my phone or i'll give it to the deputies
example 2: I did one of my assignments and presented it really well with good information but because my teachers chooses to be a biased and picky cunt she deducted marks off me and said that i gave it a non serious attempt
plus the school is full of gangs and hk's that smoke and take drugs in the back of the toilet and make the toilet an unsafe place after this kid got caught chasing people with a taser
So imma let you make your mind but tbh aphs is good for mucking around and sports but for education i don't recommend this school as good

In the best interest of the public and to foreign overseas student. The teachers at this school are something else, Some of the older teachers are respectable and understanding however the younger and inexperienced teachers are rather fustrastingly annoying, not helpful, and dont really care about the students education. The younger teachers have an seemingly high ego about their actual abilites to teach, their is a difference between a good teacher and a decent person, critizism is an important part of growing and evolving.(hint they do not take critizism well they take it as a personal attack) The younger teachers and even some immature older teachers do this, a great example would be teachers not atually teach the class, they threaten us with detention and rosas. The teachers here have some sort of weird thinking
that (oh i teach at aphs the new high rise school i'm a good person and a teacher) with this type of mentality is cancerous, if you object to the teacher once wether it be picking up a chair euqipment/ mess they have made or be speaking in front of the class they (usually the youger teachers) act as if they have been personally attacked. Not only this but the teachers here are completely biased towards students they deeem as "smart" and example of this would be a girl in one of top classes was erractically attending some classes and skipping out on a majority, there was an assignment/ essay which needed to be completed at the set deadline and you would think what would happen was she receive an extenstion to do the actual work, but what ended up happening was she did not bother starting the assignment when the deadline came their teacher came up to her and told them she received the full mark 20/20 (for not doing anything, justifying this move saying that it was understandable as she was "sick" even though evident from her attending other classes she was not). Ths is furthered by the fact that the school is exetremely cheap hiring teacher with a broader range of "skill/range" rather than teachers who actually specialize in that subject, the school will place a teacher who is suppose to be teaching ecomoics and history teach community family services, and geography
BATHROOMS, yes the bathrooms they are an intergal part of life but as the support system for younger and older systems are weak and almost non existent some of the students have turned to using drugs and smoking in the bathrooms as a result.The bathrooms at all times are locked.The school spends a majority of their money on paint trying to had the vandalizism (in the bathroom) rather than actually pay for 2 ply toilet rolls, its that cheap and stingy the school

There are many points that need to be changed in this school. As a student who does well in year 9, I notice the weak points of Arthur Phillip every day. Sure, I accept that our school has an average to low ranking in New South Wales. I look past that, through that, because I've met fantastic teachers and friends. However, I cannot continue to turn a blind eye to all the problems we face on a daily basis. Arthur Phillip is a school to many bad students with horrible reputations. Of course, rules are placed in order to maintain discipline in school but ask yourselves this... Are you trying to teach them ways to improve or desperately trying to keep them contained? Containment is not a solution to this problem. Not only are you restricting students, you're also urging them to find another way to do whatever they please. If you believe yourself to be a student, a teenager, who means and does well...Don't come here. You will not find the opportunities you deserve. You will not be trusted to occupy a room without an adult, even though you're trusted to drive a vehicle at the age of 16. It's ridiculous. We're all caught up in trying to gain control that we forget about giving students the opportunity to try, to thrive. As a student, I don't want to come to a school where we can't even walk through a hallway without being hit, run over or pushed. We, as students who actually want to do well, are not respected enough. We're not even respected as humans, what's the point of wanting respect as a good student? The toilets are locked during class times, again, to control those who mess around. What about us? What about my friends who would not leave class unless they really needed to? The school demands us to visit the deputies to get the toilets unlocked during class time, as if we're going to bother to go through with that just to relieve our body. They think they're doing a good thing by making students not miss class. No, they're not. They're making us waste even more time by making us retrieve the keys, if not give an explanation. If you don't want to be considered, if you don't want to be respected, if you don't want to be trusted then please, come to this school. You'll get what you want. I speak on the behalf of those I know, we're tired. We demand change. If you want my honest opinion, don't come to this school. We're more worried about public representation, the exterior, than working on finding a right solution to maintaining harmony within the school's walls. We don't come to school to be caged, we don't need to be chained. I do not come to school so that the public thinks good of me, of what I seem to represent. I come to learn, to be respected, to be trusted. I come here to represent myself, to be able to represent myself. Yet I cannot achieve that as students cannot be trusted. As we are uncontrollable, disgusting, wild people. As we aren't capable of staying in a room without supervision. As we are not trusted enough to thrive alone. What's the point of school then? If not to prepare us for the future, what are they trying to do? Is this a family daycare where my parents drop me off to live their lives? Is this the cage in which I am to be placed? You really need to consider your wants, your needs, as a human when coming here. As evident, I am not happy.

This school wasn't so bad until I found out some nasty things. Majority of the community, both juniors and seniors are uninterested and ungrateful for the educational opportunities given. I feel downgraded when attending this school as everyday, I am surrounded by people who are mostly drop kicks, druggies or disrespectful beings. I love having teachers who lie and scream at us when we did not do anything wrong. Most people who attend this school dreams of a bright future but all they get is rubbish. There's literally no opportunities or respect towards the good students.

I am year 11 student and i understand that this school has an average rank. I think that this school can help a student to achieve an atar of 90+ because there are many caring, helpful, kind and generous teachers that are interested to teach the students in a very enjoyable and interesting way. But there are some people in my class who are not interested to learn. And in my opinion i rank this school 1st in every way. And this is a very great school.

As a year 8 student, i think the grade is terrible in behaviour. The teachers i've got are great, but about 80% of the students are either heavy Truanters, troublemakers, foolish and immature and are not grateful for the education they have. People come from all over the world to get an education in Au, but the people here take it for granted, and ruin their, and other's opportunities to learn, to lead a future, and be civilised.
I recommend you aim to be selected by another school if you want to lead a proper life and education in this country. I rate the school a 2 out of 10.

This is the shittiest school ive been too. I was amazed at first when I came here. The students swore alot. There were very highlevels of racsim and the laptops just ruin the learning of students. The top class has some very dumb students with low intelligence. The staff is a complete piece of shit who are always in a bad mood and I had beem trying all term to get myself into a laptop class because I bought a laptop, they said they were working on it but they didnt do anything. As a last resort I had to bring my parents in. I HATE THIS SHITTY SCHOOL. SO MANY PEOPLE DONT ATTEND CLASS AND NOTHING IS DONE ABOUT.

Okay I am a student in Year 7 to be honest with you this high school is pretty bad. I am deciding to change schools because of the students. Well the teachers are GREAT!!!, but its just that the student swear too much, what I mean by that they even swear In front of our teacher for French Class. I would not recommend you to come to this high school.

I graduated APHS in 2013, here is my review based on my time (2007-2012) at this school:
Technology:
- PLEASE spare your wallet and save yourself, do not buy a macbook if they are still doing that. Trust me I will explain why.
- I brought the macbook, they recommended to me in 2007. It was complete rubbish, I think it spent more time at repairs then it did in the classroom. For the price of 800$+, you expected it to last longer than 2 years. well it didnt.
- Laptops are the tools of procrastination, give a tool that can connect to the internet and run application. Do the math you will understand. A prime example of this was the halo demo epidemic, everyone was playing halo on lan together on their personal and school laptop. Another one is Teacher's password to the internet, these are like golden key for your child to access website like facebook/youtube.
- School laptop are the most inefficient technology I have used in my life. It takes like 5-10mins to bootup and log in that is if you are lucky. Once your in, you will experience the most sluggish and useless piece of machine that easily turn off in any second.
- Most subject does not need the use of Laptops especially math, social studies (history,BS, LS), music science and english. OH WAIT THATS THE WHOLE like 70% of HSC subjects...
- From my experience, only a certain handful of teacher knows how to use the technology available. I have this deep feeling that the school invested in technology but did not invest capital in teaching the teacher to how to actually you the technology.
- Interactive whiteboard - most of them are placed behind the whiteboard.... SRSLY WHERE ARE WE LOOKING AT.
- I barely used the online teaching programs or website. They are useless and waste of time. Never even have a positive impact on my education.
Campus:
- So we have two campus that is split by a road... Thats alright is only a short distance.
- I still wonder if they have clear out the bee hive (i think always a swarm of bugs there) in the rooftop of the main building.
- The main problem is about the gates. They are suppose to protect the students by keeping danger out. Instead it actually keep Students out. Seriously if you come late, get ready to become 10-30 mins later because there is this dumb rule where teacher cannot open the gates for students and the student that is late needs to be escorted...
Teachers:
- I can personally vouch that there is only one good math teacher thats all
- History - the whole staff of history is amazing and helpful.
- English, some teacher are amazing
Overall 3 out of 10.

This school has multicultural diversity of students from different backgrounds, more technology, nice and helpful teachers and it is a very great school.
