A good coffee club for the Mums. Teachers don't work hard and cover bullying up. Poor communication with the parents

There is a disproportionate amount of bullying at this school as well as a disproportionate amount of kids with Autism. Being a small school you would expect a low amount of bullying however this is not the case. The teachers lack the training to deal with bullying, and often the ASD kids are dealt with harshly, due to the lack of insight of the principal, who is all about charm and manners.
I feel so sorry for the kids at this school, there is no support for them, old school teachers stuck in outdated teaching methods ( what would you expect when there is no teacher training required). And I feel for the teachers who are given a difficult task of classes full of ASD kids, behavioral problems, with little support or intervention in place.
The new Vice Principal is just what the school needed, she has some educational insight, and is more motivated than the outdated principal.
There poor NAPLAN results are a reflection of their lack of intervention, I know of a Year 5 child who can't read or write, yet they fail to take action. How does a child get to Year 5 illiterate, and nothing is said or done?
The positives are the small community feel and lovely grounds, which has been the Principal's main focus.

The principal does nothing to raise the mediocre teaching methods at this school. She covers the truth constantly, professing her teachers are 'the best' when they are in the bottom half of Australia for Naplan and terribly inconsistent. They ignore bullying. Recent complaints to the education department and the Department investigating the school over inconsistency will show an improvement, however the leadership is too weak for a major improvement.
The principal lacks an educational vision, there is no intervention for kids who are behind. It is very traditional with limited technology, no links with home (due to lack of technology). Despite it being 'old school' the hippies love it, as the focus is on the gardens, and low I.T use.
There is a reason this school only has 200 students, as the surrounding schools are busting at 700. Some of the teachers are okay but they have no pressure from the principal, as she favours teachers rights over kids rights.
The previous comment from a parent regarding no bullying is typical of the attitude of some parents- they all live in each others pockets, the kids have known each other since they were 4, hence commenced school with such strong friendships,; of course there would be no bullying among tiny classes where they are all best buddies. This culture was created by the parents, not the principal.
There is growing dissent among the new more educationally aware parents, of the lack of academics and lack of 'zero bullying policy'

I cannot speak highly enough of this primary school.
The inclusive culture is not just a statement but a fact, the kids look after each other and children who come to the school after being elsewhere learn how to relate to each other in real terms , bullying is a rarity which I would be surprised if many other schools could lay claim to.
The teachers genuinely care for the kids and the environment is nothing short of amazing. My son finishes this year after 7 brilliant years and he is equipped to move forward with his own strong sense of self which was encouraged and nurtured by this amazing primary school . I hope it stays this way forever as it is one of a kind!! Love love love it!!!
