The new principal is excellent. Is turning the school around with discipline, new uniforms, new study pathways for school based trades, certificates and diplomas and ATAR. A new strong focus on education linking up to employment. Some work needs to be done on some of the teachers being more committed to their job as a caring educator but on a whole, under the new principle, the school is quickly turning around and becoming a great school.

Some excellent changes at Merrimac High. Students are now looking very professional and the school is very competitive academically. Since the new Principle arrived I have zero regrets about sending my children here

This school is one of the best schools I have ever gone to. There are so many options of subjects to choose from. So far my experience at this school has been amazing. I haven't been bullied and the teachers are some of the nicest and most caring teachers I have ever met. I am a year 7 and I am basically the prep kid again, but so far nothing bad has happened. If you want to succeed and not get picked on. Just keep everything to yourself and don't tell on kids, otherwise you are going to have some trouble. I year 6, I had C's and only 1 B in the whole year. But when I went to this school I have not one C yet. I have only gotten A's and B's. Please send your child here if you want them to have the best chance at succeeding in life.

Ive had 3 children go through the school. All of them have come out with certificates or an school based apprenticeship to gain access to employment. 2 of my children have gone off to university and obtained degrees and now 1 working overseas. throughout their time there I was kept informed or their progress and always contacted if there were any concerns. I had many calls over the years and many meetings with different teachers. I found them to always be available to discuss my child. I found without exception all my children's teachers to be genuinely interested in them and their well-being. I was determined to ensure they received the best education within the public sector and I certainly feel this was achieved. School is only a part of the education process as a parent you MUST extend the class room into the home and be active in encouraging that revision & assignments are done and study at exam times. The school camps and extra-curricula activities offered are outstanding and there for the students to get involved in. The only way this school would not meet the needs of a child is that the child doesn't want to at any school and they are not encouraged and supported at home. You get out what you put in!

Google drugs and you will see that Merrimac is the worst school in Queensland. It was our biggest regret sending our child to this school!

Do not send your child to this school unless you like no communication, staff and a principal that have no idea on what's going on, or care about what is going on. If you are happy for your child to be just a number then this is the school for you. Terrible school, terrible clueless staff.
I'm , rate this school
