This school is shit. None of the students feel protected. My year 7 daughter and her friends were threatened to get bashed by this other year 7 called N*** Stowers. They didn’t do anything wrong and the other girl still tried to pick a fight with them. This girl has her sisters older friends and the older kids are threatening everyone. When my daughter and her friends told the deputy principle they didn’t do anything about it. This is not acceptable. Children should feel safe in school. They shouldn’t feel threatened or scared. Every school is supposed to be a safe environment.

I have found BGHS an excellent school for my child for many reasons. My child lets me know things about the school quite often and over the years and how they are doing. They are very happy there and find the teachers to be kind, helpful, supportive and interested in their wellbeing and academics. My child is thriving at BGHS. The school offers an incredible amount of different programs and opportunities for all students regardless of their situation or experience. As with all schools, you come across students who cause issues or continually create trouble. Rest assured, BGHS is proactive in dealing with bullying and they do this very well with fairness and transparency after finding out all information. Bullying, causing issues for others and bad behaviour is a choice. Those very few who complain, best watch their negative and unwanted behaviour because they exhibit this to their peers daily and can't hide their true colours. Once they get out in the real world they will see that it's not accepted in workplaces or society in general. I highly recommend BGHS and thank them for being a truly wonderfully diverse school with great opportunities and for taking great care of my child from their emotional and mental health to their academics and everything in between. I will always highly recommend this great school!

There is a lot of graffiti and they bullying problem is big and the teacher don’t do a thing about it.

This year is the first year I'm attending BGHS and I feel like this school is excellent! The BEP music programme is pretty good but they can definitely make it better, for now, I'm satisfied. The social life at BGHS is pretty good but obviously, there are a few bad apples and I'm sure people who have been bullied at Burwood girls are VERY valid because there are always a few mean people there but overall it's pretty good. My experience these past few months has been pretty good, there were a few people ignoring me and being a little rude but that's it! The academics here are average, but it helps me fill in the gaps that I missed out on in primary, so that's good. I really have no complaints about the school.

the BEP program when i first joined the school was exceptional but it gradually started to lack as time progressed due to a continual change of music directors , this was all fine until the new and current BEP director arrived. since he has come so many students have lost there passion and he was created a hostile learning environment, would not recommend

overall my schooling experience was average really depending on the individual teacher but the social environment is undeniably toxic with an ignored bullying problem and issues of exclusion die to the implementation of social "clicks" that are encouraged by the teachers. I strongly believe a large part of the schools academic success is die to the amount of international students we have and outer school tutoring because many of the teachers simply do not care about helping because they know that our overall school rank will be okay

I don't attend this school but my friend introduced me to her Burwood Girl's friends and all I can say is I've never been so jealous of them! My school is a semi-private catholic school which I won't name but the girls at my school are so much less down to earth, smart and genuinely good friends. Also the education at my school sucks, we don't even do accelerated subjects. Meanwhile, my friend and her Burwood girls classmates are in year 9 doing year 9-12 maths. I'm really sad I don't go to this school. My school sucks and is filled with rich, sassy and fake students. GO TO BURWOOD BECAUSE I DIDN'T GET THAT CHANCE AND U CAN'T MISS IT EITHER!

I recently moved to Burwood girls in semester 2 last year, and honestly, it is much better than my old school. I used to attend a private catholic school where everything was about what people thought of them as, and education went down the drain. Yes, Burwood girls is NOT the BEST school, but the teachers here have helped me push myself academically. Compared to my old school, they are much more understanding when it comes to how you feel and need to leave class for personal reasons. Although, the toilets are not in the best condition. Currently, a new performing arts building is being built, when we all think that the money used to build that should go to fixing or improving the toilets. The uniforms are quite nice but can be very expensive considering it is a public school. Overall it is above average for a school.

It is a large school with complex needs that attempts to cater to a wide range of students. Teachers have organised many different excursions, including overseas trips to support student learning. The school participates in a wide variety of learning initiatives internally and externally. Many charities and social programs are supported through student activities. I am not happy about the school's lack of action on excessive daily phone use during break times. Many other schools have banned phones and I think BGHS should as well to encourage greater social connections. Their Principal has been around for long time and often travels overseas, leaving the school to be run by capable deputies. I have found the majority of my daughter's teachers to be kind, supportive and helpful.

During my time at Burwood I found my teachers were not particularly understanding of my situation. I was unwell for part of my senior years and I struggled a lot to attend class. I was always treated like a delinquent by the office ladies who would drill me and belittle me for missing school, and who always made me feel like I had to justify why I had been absent. I sought out help from the school counsellor who was extremely unprofessional. She immediately had me sit tests for anxiety and depression, and gave me a wrong diagnosis for anxiety. Eventually I saw an external therapist who was beyond supportive. After struggling at school for over 2 years I was able to have a meeting with the deputy who offered me only one option, which was to enrol in ‘pathways’. Following my better judgement I left BGHS, moved to another school to complete my HSC, and received the grades to get into my chosen course at Sydney University. I would caution any parent considering sending their child to this school.

I suffer from anxiety to the point where going to school is incredibly difficult, when explained to the teachers, they were all incredibly kind about it and have helped me find a solution which they've done with a lot of other students in a similar situation. The education is pretty good from what I've seen, though I do get jealous of my sister sometimes, whom of which goes to Fort Street.

I'm sure many reviewers have been through experiences that led them to respond in such way; many of which is true as I write this.
Burwood Girls is the not most excellent nor worst school - it is decent at best. Being an averagely-funded school, it does its best in providing the students with a lot of materials related to learning and provides many opportunities in gaining new experiences. It is reforming to become a better school in some ways.
This school is very open with the whole 'acceptance' theme - LGBT+, multi-cultural and feminism, so you'll expected this school to be more friendly in those terms. Though don't be pressured to confront, rather persuaded if you want to.
The teachers there are usually kind and skilled in their own ways, but as most school does, there will be some teachers that have a bad reputation one way or another. It really depends on the teacher and the students' behaviour in class.
I've seen many people complain about the uniform, and honestly, it depends on the person. Some people actually like it and some dislike it. There was rumours about the uniform changing its design, but that was years ago.
Recently, the canteen has gone through many changes. The supplier has changed, new canteen ladies, new format, and new prices. The way they cook specific food has definitely changed, and they also included more snacks. It also claims to be healthy food choices.
I don't know about other schools, but a lot of toilets in this school have graffiti on them. A lot of which have been there for years. Rather than the lack of air cons (we have fans instead - we might get air cons soon according to rumours), the main toilets should be every students' worst nightmare. 2/3 of the student toilets in this school is horrible. They recently closed down the one of the toilet blocks and told us they would open up the other toilet block that's usually closed, but they are still often closed, leading to a long line waiting for the toilet.
There are slow changes but that's probably due to school funding. What students think would be merely speculation, as we do not know what's doing on with the school. This school contains a variety of different people which is good, since having a wide variation is good.

Many of the teachers are quite rude. My science teacher started the year off saying that we will learn manners by the end of the year however, just today she laughed at me in a ridiculous way in front of the whole class and I felt mocked and embarrassed. Another time a friend of mine went to sick bay stating that she was sick and the lady said “what do you want me to do about it?”. This behaviour is quite disgusting and if I were one of the teachers, I would be quite embarrassed reading these comments since majority of them are coming from students.

I just got into this school AND I ALREADY GOT BULLIED! My friends told the teacher and did NOTHING . Also THE BATHROOM STINKS LIKE HELL THERES DICK DRAWINGS EVERYWHERE ALSO! Not to mention that the staff is very VERY RUDE! The staff had a phone call from a parent and themn THEY STARTED TO SAY ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE THINGS ABOUT THAT PARENTS! I really want to move now!

I would NOT recommend sending your child to this horrible environment. The majority of teachers in the school do not care about the students wellbeing, however care more about their uniform. The toilet cubicles are absolutely horrendous!!

THIS SCHOOL IS HORRIBLE. I had to move because I not longer felt comfortable. The teachers don't care about anything but themselves, neither do the students as exhibited in their appearance (i.e. short skirts) and the office ladies are extremely rude. One day I was feeling unwell and instead of helping me, they had to audacity to firstly make me wait 15 minutes at the front desk, make me sit in sick bay and did not check up on me once, so I therefore had to call my mum to pick me up. I do not recommend this school.

I’m very unhappy to pay for a shirt that dosnt match the pricetag at all! $50 for a shirt is ridiculous in the first place but now they have made the qualitiy of the shirts so poor it’s rediculous and if I refuse to send my daughter to school wearing that my daughter gets uniform detention. I think this is very unfair especially in the summer when it’s very irritating to wear something underneath just to cover her up. I am very annoyed and I hope they change it to be appropriate before they boast about how great that school is.

THIS SCHOOL IS THE WORST. I will now state my reasons. Everything in this school is a rip off and disgusting. I’m so furious I have taken my time to do this. uniforms r u serious they complain about how short our skirts are but then they sell us see through shirts worth $50? We pay $500 minimum for school fee what happened to free education but yes some were covering for camps and events but There’s the compulsory fee worth of $100? What’s that for? For every student that has paid for it what do u do with that money? Fix the roofs? NO, we don’t have air con, we don’t even have soap (a basic human right) the classrooms are filthy and the bathrooms are disgusting. I paid my fees and they still don’t give it to me. Because they ran out of resources I am unable to get what I HAVE ALREADY PAID FOR. It’s not my problem u use the money recklessly I cannot believe we students have to suffer ur consequences.
The canteen is the worst! They serve uncooked wedges and everything is a rip off! They don’t even have enough money to hire more ppl what is this school doing. But I got to say the teachers are actually really good. I JUST WANT TO BUY A TSHIRT WORTH $50 AND HAVE AIR CON U RIP US OFF SO MUCH U MUST HAVE SOME TYPE OF MONEY AND STOP SPENDING IT ON THE ROOFS AND THE FRONT OFFICE! WE GIVE U MONEY ITS TIME U SPENT IT ON OUR WANTS FOR ONCE

I see too many girls with short skirts in that school.. That means the principal does not care about the school uniform policy whereas in Strathfield Girls the principal is very meticulous about the skirts length and even the students hair. Not saying that's a bad thing and shorts skirts look good on girls with long legs but wouldn't it attract perverts?
