I go to NSG currently and I think it's a great school. Everyone is quite competitive though and sometimes it's easy to get stressed during assessment period, so you need to be really productive. I hope one day they'll install air conditioners in the classrooms

Too many huge assessments. Even in year 10 you get 2-3 per week

Everyday, I come home from school crying. I hate it so much and I know it is very competitive to the extent that everyone just hates each other. I hate it.

The school put so much focus on ranking and lack focus on the students. Almost everything is run by P&C and when my daughter needs help and asked the admin staff, they seems to have no idea. Skipping year 7 syllabus isn't a proper education. If kids are smart, then they can complete year 7 & 8 studies in 1.5 years. HSC doesn't come in 6 years and students should enjoy their time from year 7-10, with time to read, do sports and brush up their Maths skills. Some girls are immature and turns argument into fights. It is a disappointment. I should have enrolled my daughter into a Catholic school, which provides a more comprehension and balanced approach to education.

ex-nsg. Pretty much most "private" selective school there is. School environment is so chill yet we still manage to come 2nd in state.. some definite tartan magic happening behind the scenes here

"Everyday we receive magic mushroom"
Yet your comment is so lacking in vividness - have you been tossing your mushrooms in the bin?

If the December poster is actually a student at NSG, then she is living in a bubble. Only innately unhappy and friendless people could think these things about our school. Her response consists predominately of untruths. Regarding her one half-truth (one of the deputies): - intelligent people (ie. the rest of us) find it easy to avoid him.

The 'student' who rated on 27 Dec (if indeed it is a student of NSG) is clearly someone with emotional baggage and a grudge to bear.
The teaching standard at NSG is exceptionally high, with the maths and history faculties being rated amongst the best in the state. And there is absolutely no teaching towards tutored students, merely teaching directed at gifted students (as should be the case in an academically selective school).
How anyone who attends NSG could say "there is no school climate of creative problem solving, higher order thinking, participation and mutual support" is completely unfathomable. Has this person truanted the "Dome" and the year 10 project, and countless other activities which are precisely geared towards creative problem solving and higher order thinking?
"A quarter of the girls that I know". So out of her dozen 'damaged' friends who gather together for a smoke behind the school, 3 have cut themselves. There is absolutely no culture of self-harm in the school, and if I am not aware of a couple of reclusive losers who cut themselves then there is no reason any teacher should be aware.
The counsellor is one of the most helpful and caring people you could ever meet. How on earth would a counsellor blackmail a student anyway? Exactly what information is she threatening to reveal, and what benefit is she receiving as a result of this 'blackmail'. Clearly you have no idea about what blackmail is.
There are two deputies, yet you talk of only one. Is there a reason for neglecting to comment on the other deputy? - But of course, that would require a positive thought to enter your head.
The only grade that would lose anywhere near 10% if their students is year 10 going into year 11. And this is only because of parent's inexplicable belief that James Ruse will somehow provide their daughter with a better education. No year would lose even 5% of their cohort between the start of year 7 and the end of year 10. And these numbers are at best equivalent to, most likely lower than any other selective school bar Ruse.
And you are also a clever liar. The only year NSG has had the second highest cutoff for year 7 entry was in 2010, and they haven't done their HSC yet. In all other years our year 7 cutoff was between 3rd and 7th. And you failed to mention that (1) NSG ranked 3rd in 2012; (2) In 2013, despite ranking 5th NSG were only a couple of percentage points behind 3rd, and this despite the fact NSB cheats the system with its IPT entries.
And are you being deliberately obtuse about that year 7 cutoff? That cutoff determines the standard of the BOTTOM student in the school. The HSC rankings are based on the top achievers. How can they be used for comparison?
NSG is the happiest place in Sydney, and anyone who can't enjoy themselves there most likely is a generally unhappy person who groans at any opportunity. But yes we do have some people like you in the school. Maybe you could play your part in improving the school by leaving.
