My sons went to Pulteney from 1984 until 1992
They had mostly great caring teachers . Both boys played sports as well as debating and chess. I worked in government schools to pay their fees because I wanted them to have the education that the State Education department did not provide. We did not engage in gossip groups we went directly to teachers and leaders if we were unhappy or needed clarification about issues .
The boys still remain great friends with a number of their peers Both built great careers. The constancy and care of Pulteney teachers together with a sound home life have made them contributors to society. Parents have a joint responsibility with the school to ensure that their child engages with self discipline , respect and a desire to learn and contribute . Work with the school not with gossip groups

Bullying is rife at this school. They are so worried about student numbers that they won’t punish students.

I went there from 1966 to 1969. First year was horrendous. Bullying, poor teaching, overloaded homework, regular canings (for totally innocent association), teacher brutality. There were some good teachers ("Masters", in those days). I made a few friends and fitted in eventually. But the academic standard was appalling. No support at any level. Including sport. After a happy State Primary School experience, it was very traumatic.

This school has made me sad depressed and everything in between. The teachers don’t offer any emotional or physical help in anyway shape or form. The teachers just teach and don’t do any more. I have been given a way harsh punishment for something i didn’t even know I wasn’t allowed to do. There is so much pressure put on you as a student just because you go to an elite private school. Honestly this school should be taken down!

The teachers there in the prep school are terrible, I agree with the student who said the school has been nothing but unsupportive, that's true. Terrible school and just waste of money.

I hate this school so much. I have attended it since year 4 and it has been nothing but unsupportive throughout my schooling. Prep school is what I concider to be the closest thing to a Nazi death camp that you can put your child in, one wrong move and you will be skinned alive. In middle school, I had a few problems with other students and I am not going to deny responsibility for a few incidences but most of the time I was a victim. In year 7 I got suspended for retaliating when another student was literally smashing my face in, and the other student got let off with just a warning, where's the justice in that? And at the end of middle school (excluding year 7, we had a different head of middle school) I had accumulated a grand total of 82 stickers in my diary (notes home to the parents), 32 detentions, 2 suspensions and 3 internal suspensions. It was quite clear after a while that the head of Middle School was picking on me. I didn't have these problems in year 7, you see with the old head of middle school (moved to saints in year 8) he expelled a kid for slamming me into the pavement, but with the new head Mr Ryan, I got beat up so many times I've had to have most of my teeth replaced and yet somehow I've got in the most trouble out of everyone in my year group. One ninety was okay Mr Holmes was a bit of a dick but he's moved on now and they've got some new guy who I don't know as I graduated last year. I would not recommend this school to anyone.
