Went here from year 8 to year 12. I saw massive decline of students as we lost more than half the cohort. Many experienced and long-term teachers with strong community history have left during and after graduating. The education and care for students is almost a joke within the senior school with new teachers lacking proper preparation. Went through more than 12 teacher changes between year 11 and 12, and from approx. 150 in year 8 to 80 in year 12.

Such a shame that this once vibrant school has declined so far in the past few years. The music program is excellent but beyond that, it has been a very disappointing journey. Most parents are very unhappy with the current sub school leaders although some new faces in the deputy positions seem to have brought a glimmer of hope for the future. Many long term teachers have left the senior school in particular. Complaints go unanswered as the policy at redeemer continues to be “parents are unwelcome”.

RLC is an excellent school with very high standards in both academic and extra curricular activities. We initially chose this school due to the broad range of opportunities available and the christian based education and we couldn't be happier. I am also very impressed with the well-being program. All the staff promote values of high self-esteem and positive self-concept. Our son has been at RLC since Prep and is continuing to love school and get the support he needs right until the present time of Year 8. I highly recommend RLC as a school for your child.

We’ve just removed our child from this school and we couldn’t be happier at our new school. The standard of learning was poor- our child is now playing catch up at the new school particularly in English and maths. The basics just seem to be missing. It seems most of the day is taken up with “fluff”. The children who do well all have private tutors outside of school - it’s certainly not from the learning provided in class. There are lots of unhappy parents. Many families leaving the school or have already left. Save yourself the thousands of dollars and find another school.

Couldn’t agree more. At first Covid was a reasonable explanation for parent exclusion however now it just feels like a convenient excuse. I’ve never felt more disengaged and unwelcome in my child’s education.

In recent years, the sporting opportunities have continued to decline to the point where even basic sports are no longer available. Just recently, Tennis, Hockey, and cricket have also been cut. We originally chose this school based on its inclusion in the TAS sporting program, however with their removal from TAS sports and the voluntary cancellation of many other sports, it’s no longer feasible to justify the fees compared to other TAS sporting schools. Additionally, the “community” vibe that was such an important part of the school culture is now non-existent with a perception amongst all parents that the school actively discourages parent involvement on site or in the schooling life of the students.

I originally thought of taking my kids to Redeemer but I'm so glad I didn't. A lot of the teachers are unhappy which gives it a very bad vibe. Most of them are in fear of losing their jobs if they talk up. The executive team is made from hell. They're seemingly nice but under the surface extremely incompetent and bad leaders. I'm currently looking desperately for position at another school.

I agree with the previous post regarding the known issue of favouritism and the Children of past students and teachers 'clique'. Facilities are adequate however opportunities for reward and recognition will be minimal if your not part of the 'inner circle'.

I have found the school to be very nice, and the teachers honesty do try their hardest; however they are significantly under equipped to work. There is inappropriate behaviour/ bullying that occurs in both the Junior and Senior School that is known about and ignored. There is also the matter of 'clique' which is where the students of past students, students of past students who are personal friends with their teachers (who are also past students), students of relatives, or students of those parents who complain so much are awarded or rewarded. We pay a significant amount of money to send our children to this school and therefore do expect certain things in return.

I'm not sure how they can continue to justify the fees compared to schools like JPC, Sheldon and Ormiston who offer far superior facilities, subject selection and outcomes for the same fee. Subject selection in Senior School is very limited - make sure you check before enrolling. The only students who are looked after are the teachers kids, and children of past students. They are all related and in a massive clique.

I have found the school to be supportive and caring to my children. They have gone above and beyond to assist with my children's well being.

I honestly do not believe that our parent's get their moneys worth by sending us here. There is a small amount of teachers that are friendly, respectable and dedicated but majority are either extremely rude and condescending towards us or do not put in any effort at all. The school cares more about our uniform/appearance than the quality of our education. The teachers hand out so many uniform detentions daily for things like wearing the wrong coloured hairbands or a watch that is too big. I was threatened by one of the teachers saying that if I didn't miss my maths tutoring session and attend my uniform detention I would be suspended. This was the day before my maths test might I add. The school only cares about the junior school and puts none of the funding into the senior school. In the senior school, they consider renovating painting bricks white while in the junior school they are building new, airconditioned sports centres and classrooms. The business office obviously needs a kick up the ass, they spent over $200 000 on a curved roof over the chapel hub and (I can imagine) an even bigger amount on the pointless signs they put every 20 m around the school. Don't be fooled into sending your children to this school, they are decieving and money hungry and will make you believe anything if it means that they are making profit.
I'm , rate this school
