Reviews | By Alumnus - 27 Sep 2023, Rate: bad | To the parent who submitted that response above, I couldn't disagree more. Let's keep in mind that you went there long before this girl did or myself, allowing for different teachers, principal, facilities and therefore a different education and experience. The deputies, principle and some teachers of Mackellar Girls Campus are on a power trip that entails humiliating girls at their most vulnerable ages. The male teachers on multiple occasions have made more than inappropriate comments about the girls, extending to texting them once they have graduated the school. The school takes their uniform policy to an extent of degradation, it goes far beyond a 'dress code' and entails old-fashioned humiliation tactics in order to embaress girls. And no, I'm not just talking about a skirt being too short, I'm talking about running into miss morrison when I was extremely visually upset after hearing some highly triggering information in class, for her to scoff and make me hand over the 3 rings i was wearing. Mental health at that school is a last priority. Counscellors who never follow up another session or get you the outside help they promised, ignore you in the hallways, principals that would rather uniform check you than ask what's wrong when your crying. The stories from Mackellar extend far beyond my experience, those on Facebook have validated that. The school is archaic. They wonder why so many people leave to Freshie Campus and other places. The bullies aren't other girls at this school, it's the staff. If you want your daughter to feel any sort of support or value, do not send them here. | | By Parent - 29 Apr 2023, Rate: excellent | Oh my goodness...how incredibly entitled is this girl. You attended a School that set high standards about your dress and behaviour and encouraged good grades and pride in your School. You should consider your good fortune to have attended a School where the Principal has set standards of respect, discipline and achievement that wanted the best outcome for your education and Staff who were committed to those directives. You should take another look at yourself and appreciate the values that they were trying to install in you and prepare you for a worthy future. Just because you disrespected the rules and didn't get everything your own way does not make MGHS a bad School. As a past STUDENT I absolutely loved MGHS and it prepared me extremely well for my career in the Military and university study to become a Doctor. Learn to respect and appreciate the people amd regulations who are trying to give you a great education. | | By Alumnus - 25 Oct 2021, Rate: bad | This school was just the absolute worst. I moved to freshwater senior campus for my senior education, and when I was making the decision, the deputies and principles had a main mission to absolutely hate on everyone who was choosing to go and pressured everyone into staying. The teachers and staff straight bullied any girls wearing the incorrect uniform, made us stand up in front of everyone if we were wearing the incorrect uniform, wipe off our makeup and nail polish in front of everyone in assemblies. This school is horrible and the way they treat vulnerable and impressionable young teenage girls is shameful. I will never recommend anyone to send their daughter here. All they care about is good grades and how the school looks to everyone outside. NOT OK! | |
