As a previous student who attended the school It was amazing. Best staff and surrounded by some of the best people.

My son went to Applecross from Year 10. He came from out of state and join in. Although he is not the scholarly type, he was allowed to take up non-ATAR subject. I particularly like the Applied Info Tech teacher because she encouraged my son to do well despite he was not doing well in some traditional ATAR subjects. My personal experience is Applecross is a decent school and it has a good campus. All schools have their goods and bads, but I think Applecross is a school I feel comfortable with. My son had not experience any bullying or other belittlement. Granted it is a school focuses on academic performance, but most good schools would. I value the quality of the education overall. I would recommend it to parents who want a good school with a balanced development. If you want something purely academic, then maybe something like Rossmoyne is the way to go or Perth Modern if you want a selected school.

I attended Applecross SHS in 2010. I had lived in Ardross (the suburb the school is located in) all my life.
I did good at school. When I was ill and missed an accounting test in year 11, the teacher called my parents and convinced them I needed to move school. They sent me to Fremantle Fast Track and then I had to go to North Lake, where I was told I would need to repeat year eleven.
If I had been given the opportunity to stay at Applecross and move to non TEE classes, I would have taken that option. However, I was not given a choice. My year co ordinator convinced my parents I had to move school. Applecross is more concerned with their scores than looking after local students.
I ended up getting a university degree and I did exceptionally well at my uni exams.
The test I missed in that accounting class was not important. It could have been regiven to me. I am someone who can study and retain a lot of information. I was sick and I could have caught up on the work I missed as I have family who are accountants.
I know I would have done very well in the TEE exams had I been able to complete them. I wasn’t given the option.
It was sad for me to have to leave the school and the classmates (some of which I had known since kindigarten). I became socially isolated as I was studying at a different school.
I would never send my children to Applecross (even though I own property in the area). I would send my child to Melville as I don’t enjoy the condescending and pretencious attitude of the many of teachers and parents at Applecross.
