this school is so bad they have no rights fore example my friend got bashed up and the teacher didnt punish the kid that bashed my friend but they punished my friend for defending him self.I recomend not to go to this small, bad education school if your trying to inrole youre son/daughter in this school please change your mind.alright now lets talk about sport at breaks they dont let us to use a normall soccer ball or a normal rugby ball they only giv us a small tenis ball. if you look at other schools they allow the following soccer ball and rugby ball etc) So thats why you shouldnt come to this school

I was a student teacher at Kensington Primary School in late 2020. I had a great experience working with the grade 2-3 teachers and learnt so much from them, they are a solid team I learn so much from them! While I didn't really get to know the other staff, particularly the upper echelons, I always felt welcome and everyone was always eager to offer advice and guidance.
With regard to the students, I can understand some of the comments here. Kensington Primary does have its rough edges, just as any school. I think what a lot of parents fail to understand is that there is only so much teachers can do to fight against bullying. The teacher's at Kensington Primary from limited experience do their best, they don't pick and choose favourite students, they are genuine, respectful and kind. Send your children here if you want, don't base your decisions on reviews like mine, get to know the school, the staff, the families etc and make a decision for yourself!

KPS is a small school. Money that could have been spent on optimising the facilities went on painting murals on the walls. The teachers are good, however many well regarded teachers who taught at the school for many years and contributed to the school’s reputation have left following the arrival of the current principal. School results have deteriorated during this time with no apparent appetite/strategy to improve. School newsletters are infrequent and often contain information out of date by the time it is sent out. Subsequent queries to the school, if acknowledged at all, are met with brusqueness and impatience. Messages to families are often cut and paste of Education dept media releases. The principal makes no effort to positively engage with the families. She has been on many overseas conferences though.

I was a student at kenso and it was horrendous most of the office lady’s were rude and seemed like they were over there job! Some of the teachers lie and manipulate. I was getting sworn at by a student for 3 weeks and had told teachers yet nothing was done! I loved the student teachers they cared more about us than the ones who had been the for years! I once walked into the office and I knocked on the door whilst walking in and had been yelled at for it apparently it was RUDE??!!! There is a horse stable next to the school and it always smells like poo! The talent quest is a competition to determine with how kid is the best and makes kids fell bad about them selves. the year six teachers for 2019 were mostly kind and genuine. Kensington public school is where bully’s thrive and teachers are included in this! Teachers pick students to be kind to and others to bully! DONOT GO HERE!!!

Don't send your child to this school. My daughter has been bullied for over a year and then when you think it will end, the next bully steps in. The staff and principal are completely out of their depth and do not know how to manage bullying. There is no discipline in the school whatsoever, which is why bullies thrive. When a parent complains about persistant bullying, the school leaders try to make the victims think they are the problem, because they would rather do nothing then address it. The victims are left defeated and damaged by a school which continues to fail them. Even if the learning environment is good, no child can thrive or learn when the social environment is rough, and students are never taught boundaries or respect. Shame on Kensington Public School, my daughter's primary school years were ruined here.

This is the best school ever. We have great facilities and the teachers are the best. The education is great and I've learnt a lot.

Okay so the teachers were really caring (besides a few odd teachers who were new to the staff) but some of the students themselves can be at times naive. However, what I really loved about this school was it was never about your cultural background or anything; usually you were singled out because of the lack of interaction with the other students (I was an introvert during primary as I had moved from the U.S mid Year 1.) Majority of friendships are formed during kindergarten, so it's best to start at kenso then. The curriculum was very interesting all taught within a variety of ways such as through posters :) What I really do realise is that Kenso really does focus on being multicultural and accepting everyone without being biased towards religion and race which I found in high school that not many other primary school offers the same opportunities in which I found my fellow students in high school to have a tendency to segregate according to their race (e.g. asians v.s. whites) and a stiff attitude towards religion (Being a Christian but being restricted in not being able to opt out of certain school activies I find uncomfortable) Also Kensington gives a lot of attention towards academics such as in Maths and English and divide classes into groups according to their ability and strive tk improve everyone's skills. Some of the teachers are so caring that they stop while during lunch duty and place a shy but lonely girl into a group of girls in order for her to be more included. One big note is that the school is located within an area with a richly diverse environment as there is the University of New South Wales which may be why there may be lots of different cultures? Also a big key note is that the school is located next to the stables for the horses (For the Randwick Racehorse thing I guess) so the smell outisde might be a little off. However, because of this, I have learned to find that I am able to withstand more moments of bad smells than my friends at high school in instances of when we have to change in the gym change rooms :) also kenso is really focused on being self-sustainable and thus we have our own garden and water tanks and solar panels and we have days where we just pick up rubbish not only within our school, but also some parts of the streets nesr our school. Also a big focus on being able to swim, so from years 3 - 4, it is compulsary be taught how to swim in the pool at UNSW in which after passing the swim test (25m and treading water) you are able to participate in some of the sports that UNSW offers for primary students. Overall would rate the school 8.9/10, personal experience 8/10, teachers 9/10, facilities 10/19 (Macs and smartboards in every classroom plus ipads in the media centre) other students 7/10 canteen food 8/10 (offers halal) uniform (golden yellow and some kind of dark green) 7/10 (they were really comfortable especially the cullotes but the colours i didnt really like the school hat was vv cute protected me from the sun at least and it's cool to have your hat hanging off your neck with that string HA) principal 6/10 no idea what she/he did except occasionally scare the students when they suddenly appeared out of nowhere haha didn't really interact with the students) atmosphere was very cheery and the school song can get ear piercing but really cute when the little ones sing it and the lyrics are really positive and nice. Also the occasional school musicals were great too.
