Good teachers, awful facilities. So much invoices. Easily $1000+ being taken from parents. And all they do is paint 4 walls, and change the cubicle walls, and say, "our budget was used up". The science facilities could be better. TAS facilities could also be better.
Why can't the money be spent on something useful? Where does the money even go? Although this school is home to a lot of smart students, and good teachers, a lot of things can be improved on. The best teachers are leaving the school, and going to schools like baulkho or private schools. The school is not using the funds they receive properly, or the government should put in more money into our school.
School's alright for now, but it's falling apart. I hope girra locks in.

this school is not worth it. for the pain of studying so much to get into a school with absolutely no funding and care for its students. its not worth it.

You can see how from 2014, the school slowly got worse and worse. People have no respect for your personal marks.
Girl in my grade initials S.K like a snake, only wants to be better tan me, copies my ideas for assignments, then boasts when she gets better than me. Utterly shameless people at this school. Really toxic environment.

This 'selective' school is just like my previous school. Selective kids always boast about how they get so much hw and that when their marks are high they could have done 'sooo much better'.
DO NOT LISTEN TO THIS. I can tell you- I came from non-selective and when i came here and realised that the kids here received less hw, complained about great teachers (because they try hard) and that certain arrogant kids boast about how smart they are (even though the new kids are now topping the grade).
I guess the only thing about this school is that you get branded as 'selective'. Like any other school there is only a select few who are high achievers. If you are one of these people don't boast about it- that's just..
For all those people who get bottom line As, those arrogant people always put them down.
If u get into this school, or are from a non/partial selective school, remember that you are not the one who got into this school because their primary school gave them an unfair school grade. Just ignore them and do your best. (parents if u r reading this show this 2 your kids)

Some teachers, primarily in the English faculty don't care about their work. There have been times when you can google a question for English and see that they have been copied from the internet. Everything else is decent but the fact that some staff just don't care about their work and some students are not enthusiastic about learning is why our hsc results are dropping.

As the highest scoring alumnus in my grade, I have to make a point very clear- this school only provides very basic frameworks for success, and does not cater towards students that are underperforming, or simply need help. I highly recommend this school to higher achievers, not to any student who is unconfident in their abilities, or "carried" by an unjustified, perhaps undeserved school mark.

If it weren't for the staff and internal student culture that contribute to Girraween High School students' academic decline I personally believe Girraween would be touted as being one of the best selective schools in the state. Obviously the calibre of students entering the school in Yr 7 is unmatched with the distinct exception of students from James Ruse, Baulkham Hills, North Sydney Boys and Girls and Sydney Boys and Girls evident by the repeatedly high entrance marks Girraween has displayed for the past 6 years. Yet, the gross incompetence of staff members to contribute to students' academic needs is unmistakably clear as Girraween tends to perform worse than its statistically similar peers, Fort Street High School and Normanhurst Boys High School. Whilst it can be argued the student culture under-values academic success in favour of teenage growth and development (in the form of social interaction) the educational institution that is Girraween High School continues to fail to cater towards low achieving students. It is with deep regret that I inform any parent looking to enroll their child into Girraween High School to steer clear of the school.

From what I heard from my seniors, there could be some improvement. One of my friends from a higher grade, recalls seeing couples kissing in the hallways. I think that persoal life should be spared for after school. But disregarding the romance, it is average. Many subjects are low funded and in need of donations. Some students approach school with a bad attitude towards learning, and that causes our downfall. The students and faculty could try harder, but Girra deserves the high marks. We could climb up the rankings but we are doing the best we can.

The school rank is going down. At this rate, even Penrith will overtake us in academics. Nowhere near Baulkham Hills or Jamesruse, unlike 5 years ago. There are students that keep the whole grade down because of their attitude towards learning. Some of the kids just got in because of their primary school's unfair mark that carried their Selective Score. Needs better funding. Some teachers are boring and ruin the subject for the students. Could be better.

definitely a huge lack of facilities but the staff do their best with what they have. The main issue I have is the lack of prestige students in the school have. Constantly problems caused by jealousy and students wanting to be better than others. Can be an extremely toxic environment.

Best school I have been to. Friendly staff, best funding I have ever seen! Canteen prices are a bargain and the ag plot is the most significant and iconic part of our school.

Its dropping school ranks again. The school was also a rubbish dump until 1976, when it was turned into a school. That is why there can be rubbish found in the ground. My daughter got Girraween in the selective test but she chose to go to Abbotsleigh, because Abbotsleigh has prestige.

This school needs improving in all areas, academics and facilities if they want to compete with schools like Baulkham Hills and James Ruse. Plus yellow is a disgusting school colour.

GHS is an excellent school and offers encouragement not just in academics, but also in sports. The school offered great support and encouragement for my son at all levels of competition: regional/state championships etc. We found the teachers are good and very supportive in academics.

Girraween high school is a good school regardless of what other people say. Yes it does need funding in certain areas and better teachers for some subjects but the overall environment generated by the student body is good. The ranks are dropping which is really disappointing whether its the students lack of enthusiasm or just the lack of good teachers who knows. However if you have the determination to succeed you can do well regardless of what school you go to.

Great school and great people. Send your kids here if you know they really want to succeed in life otherwise the pressure may be too much for them. Ranks are dropping as kids don't choose subjects wisely and go by scaling rather than subjects they can really do well in.

Very good, however, school leeches money from kids and parents pockets- they need to spend their money wisely to improve and update the school - the science labs are an utter disgrace... The english dept. needs major work. School focuses too much on maths and science. Creative dept. is almost non-existent. DESPERATELY NEEDS govt. funding, but school is too proud to accept it.
