It's far from the best school, but it's certainly not the worst. I was a graduate of this school and I found my time there to be immensely enjoyable. Most of the teachers I encountered, have a moderately high to excellent teaching quality - especially in the senior years. Alongside an academically-oriented cohort that fostered a culture to perform well, I too was able to persevere. The cohort I was in was hospitable and easygoing, almost everyone was easy to talk to and friendly as well as not afraid to help each other, and it was through this school where I made amazing friends. I don't think I would have done or performed as well in other schools than I would have here.

It is the best school. I can understand that there is too much homework but the teachers are only doing this because they want what's best for us. Even they need some rest so you can't blame them if they are tired. They are working so hard to support us. Oh, and I am in year 8

I am in year 9 and I rate this school an excellent because in BHHS, the students in BHHS are nice and the canteen is great! Also, the staff are very kind to you.

This is an excellent school with nice and high quality teachers. Students are nice. Most of the student could not find it really high pressure. It is of course very competitive. At this school, you will discover your weaknesses and improve effectively.

I don't know why there are so many hateful comments about BBHS. Sure, there is a lot of homework and pressure, but this is one of the highest-performing schools in Australia, so what do you expect? The school focuses on our well-being, and the teachers are just so nice. Many forms of entertainment include table tennis, handball courts, and basketball. Overall, the community is very hospitable and welcoming. I am in Year 7 and was over the moon when I was accepted into this prestigious school. So far I fit well in this school and am doing well academically. I hope this comment changes your mind about this lovely school.
(And for those who leave hateful comments, it's either you can't handle the fundamental requirements for this school, or you are jealous you didn't make it to this school.)

very good. except some teachers give so much homework in one day, and you have to complete it the next day, when you also get so much homework. and some teachers dont give you much homework as long as you finish it in class, and they dont really check your work and how well youve doen it, only if you did it very neatly. and other teachers have no idea what they are doing and sometimes teach the wrong thing. HOWEVER there are more good teachers and they are all very nice and value the students opinions.

This school has drastically improved my childs learning in this ative enviroment. I look up on current news in Baulko but there is no problems and the school fixes problems VERY quickly.

This school is absolutley amazing! I'm in year 9 and know hundreds of children faking to be parents on these types of reviews.Almost all of the 'Parents' on this review are irresponsible and arrogant students. Pay no heed to these hooligans!

I'm one of the junior students so I don't really know what it's like to be facing the HSC in senior years, etc. However, from my time in this school so far, what I've learnt is that most of the teachers are pretty good-most are nice, supportive and encouraging. Teachers often recommend students to visit the school website (technically, it's not the school website as only teachers and students of the school can access it) to find things like past papers, worksheets, useful links etc. that can be used to prepare for tests. It's certainly true that many students at this school go tutoring, but most students are pretty smart and/or talented in some area or another. Also, for those who say there is no sport in year seven, this is not entirely true-there is no 'recreational sport' or the more competitive 'grade sport', but there are still two double periods of PE each week with your class. From year eight onwards, there's only one double period of PE and there's recreational/grade sport on Wednesdays.
In terms of pressure, I think that if you are organised, efficient and do not have major procrastination issues, the workload is manageable. To be honest, most faculties are still quite lenient, and usually, there is a reasonable amount of time for the assignments. When it comes to actual exams, there's a lot of notice ahead of time so that if you want to study, there's a lot of opportunity to do so. Leading up to the exams, the teachers generally help a little with some revision during class. Also, another good thing about this school is the amount of subjects and extra-curricular activities available. When choosing electives, there is a very large variety of different subjects you can pick from. There's a lot of outside-of-school competitions that teachers encourages students to participate in, and plenty of lunchtime/before/after school groups/clubs that are available. While academics is a major part of Baulkham Hills High School, lots of students posess talent and interest in other aspects (sport, music, the arts etc) and get really good results in those. I've got to admit though, the facilities of the school are not particularly outstanding, but the school itself is big and there are lots of sporting facilities (e.g. ovals, the gym, basketball courts). Although the furniture in the classrooms are quite old, most of the time, the classrooms are pretty clean and the school is certainly trying to make improvements in terms of the facilities (they repainted the outdoor tables a while ago, and recently, they got some people to change the signs in the school). For those worried about health issues: firstly, the year advisors are great; they are caring, kind and overall great people. Secondly, there are counsellors who can help, and in the end, as previously stated, the teachers are quite understanding as well. I think most students are responsible and care about their education-yes, there are people who procrastinate a lot, but I think that's just a really common habit plenty of people have, no matter the school.
All in all, Baulkham Hills High School is a pretty good school, having reached high academic standards, with mostly great teachers, sensible students with a range of different talents/hobbies and lots of extra-curricular activities.

Baulkham Hills High School - the place for all your schooling needs as long as that doesn't include actual education.
Don't you agree that teachers don't need to do their job? Baulkham Hills High School does. We feature sleeping, texting and movie-watching teachers, a guaranteed recipe for an unproductive lesson.
To those who might find this concerning, don't worry! Baulkham Hills High School teachers can zip through a 2-week topic in 2 periods, and will yell at you for not fully understanding. In addition, they have shown consistently, again and again, to be unable to finish the HSC syllabus before the actual exam. Get the full value out of your school fees by ensuring that your child is still learning up until the day of the exam.
Lonely, depressed or being bullied? Baulkham Hills High School has you covered. We believe that ignoring an issue is the best way to solve it. Come in for one - ONE - appointment with our caring faculty, and after that we'll make sure to get out of your hair and never speak to you again. Don't worry though; your information will still be spread through the staff rooms freely like gossip. Haven't you always wanted to be famous?
Let it be known that Baulkham Hills High School deals with stressful situations very well. In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, instead of doing any fancy-pants exam rescheduling, we engineered an innovative new exam block for our Year 12s. With a two week gap between assessments of the same subject, Baulkham Hills High School guarantees a lack of sleep for all year 12 students. We believe it builds character to be taught a new topic, then tested on it two weeks later.
In all seriousness, coming from a 2020 graduate, who has been at this school for six years through ups and downs, it's been an incredible experience that I would trade for literally anything. This school made me want to stab myself in the eye with a fork and jump out of a plane

This school sent me down a suicidal spiral. While most schools accounted for Coronavirus changes and helped reduce stress on students, this place ramped up the tests and told us to be "flexible". Don't send your children here if you want them to have any sense of wellbeing during their adolescent years.

The facilities are quite poor. Just recently, the junior boys bathroom broke, and it took 6 WEEKS to get them repaired. This is outrageous, not to mention the number of times the school's water supply got cut off DURING SCHOOL HOURS to fix the plumbing, which was quite a disappointment.
The canteen is over-priced, and they microwave plastic containers, which has been proven by many studies to lead to future health issues.
Most teachers do not care about students. They are often lazy and incompetent. In fact, I had an experience with a maths teacher who was shopping for holiday packages in the middle of class? If that is not the epitome of incompetence and laziness, I don't know what is. The way the teachers teach students is rigorous and inefficient. Even at this moment, I am supposed to be studying for a test I have the next day, but am unable to do so because I was ever given the opportunity to learn the topics being taught.
Most of my friends even comment that they learn more from private coaching or tutoring centres than they do in school, which is why many students tend to skip school, because they can learn significantly more things studying at home than wasting time in school.
On the other hand, the stress levels are not as high as people make them out to be. Many of the students cope with the pressure with sarcasm and humour, which leads to pretty healthy relationships between most students. However, there are many depressed, anxious and suicidal students. I have even seen many students hiding cuts on their arms. From what I have seen, the students of Baulkham Hills High School do tend to be responsible, and abstain from most of the typical 'high-schooler' things like underage drinking, smoking, sex, doing drugs, etc.
Overall, the school itself is not very good, but the students are very respectful and responsible, although a bit stressed out.

In this school, you do not learn how to manage money, etc. Instead, you learn how to do useless equations and you regurgitate the information that you learn in school never to use it in adult life. Also, a high number of depressed students.

Just not a good school. Most of the teachers are horrible and rely on the students to score well in the HSC to keep this school's reputation good. This school is the worst school I've been to. Rather go to Crestwood or Model farms high school.

The level of stress you experience honestly depends on your attitude. most kids here are not that obsessed with results, as with all schools there is a spectrum of how much time students spend studying. honestly if you are laid back about your studies this school will NOT crush you in any way, teachers tend to be very lenient about late work and if you are friendly most staff are very willing to help you out if you need any help at all! haven't experienced many other schools but from what i hear from friends at local comprehensives kids at baulko seem more willing to try hard academically. That's not to say they aren't well rounded, just that they try a bit harder. If you get stressed easily or are intimidated by other people doing well, that's not a problem the school has caused or can easily fix, but people here are friendly as far as i've experienced!
(you can definitely get away with being a slacker here, haha that's what i am but i survive :)

I used to go to Baulkham Hill High School back in the 1970s when it was a brand new school and it was good I got bullied but I survived and had great teachers while I was there.

Some teachers are good. However, some teachers are just so bad at teaching and their attitude to student when they do not understand something is just horrendous. Isn't it the responsibility of a teacher to make sure that their students learn and understand what it is they're teaching?
The organisation of school events is incredibly bad as they do not release new information until the day before events come. They then blame students for not acquiring the information and not being prepared for the event.
Some teachers such as the deputy give very unreasonable punishments and threaten people into stopping their school activities.

I was willing to see if this school is okay for me as a year 10 student though I'm pretty average with everything just wanted to see how their treat the students and education as I'm wanting to become a pediatrician nurse and wanting to find a good school for myself :)

I think it really depends on your kid. My son is studying there and he loves the school. He is not doing fantastic in his school work but he's ok. I haven't sent him to coaching. He is also joining many school activities too.

THIS IS THE BEST HIGH SCHOOL EVER. SO MANY FACILITIES, TEACHERS ARE THE BEST, SO MANY EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES AND YOU HAVE SO SO SO SO SO MUCH FUN!!!!

My kid started yr 7 this yr. He didn't come from an OC class and the primary school where he attended never gave the kids any project homework. Anyway, each night is a battle just to get him to do his homework/assignments. I agree, there is just too much homework, assignments and tests. For the non-OC kids, this is a huge shock. Even weekend now he has to spend time doing his work. I don't know how he is going to survive till HSC.
We know a kid from his class goes to maths coaching. I just wonder how these coaching kids cope with so much work. My kid is just barely surviving with his school work.
Some teachers are good and some are so so. I suppose you get the so so teachers everywhere you go. But one thing is that there are a lot of stencils, just everywhere, not finished and not marked.
My kid was accepted into the extension class in our local high school. If I could choose again, I would just send him up the road where the workload is more reasonable and he can have spare time to develop other interests or even just watch the news on t.v. to see what's going on around the world rather than checking which homework is due tomorrow. Selective school is ok for the kids who love doing work non-stop and they don't want to do other things in the evening or weekend. Also, for the kids who will just obey their teachers and parents. I am so tempted to pull him out of this school but unfortunately the local school won't take any more enrolments and I can't afford to send him to private school. I guess we are just going to stay here. Just hope and pray that my kid will change his work habit real soon and skip his teenage rebellious stage.

Baulkaham Hills High school is a absolute wrong school for your kids. I have good knowledge of many other schools in the state. Since Dr Bath-gate became the principal, the culture of the school has changed to a early 19th century school. She is a grumpy lady without any social competence, does not have any clue about kids welfare, many of the teachers are very low quality. This school has made the life of many kids miserable. Academically rated high because 99% of the kids who are Asian goes to private tuition in three/ four places. If you have a kid who is bright and talent don't even think about this school, but if very hardworking and you have money for many private tutors, by all means do.

Really bad school my kid feels like killing themself because of the pressure this school gives to the students. All this school cares about is getting high marks for their HSC and not the well being for the students. School like this and James Ruse are ruining the lives and childhoods of children. This school really has to change its ways.

Recently I met a parent of Baulkham Hills High. Her child has a number of health issues that would require the school to make some adjustments to cater for his learning needs. The parent submitted medical documentation and arranged interview to see the executive staff and the relevant teachers. At first the school seemed to understand the child's health issues and that adjustments to his learning needs can be easily catered for. But in reality the school failed to fulfil them. The parent had to approach the school a number of times to try to resolve the child's health/learning needs. But they were not helpful at all, instead they were suggesting that the parent should seek other medical professionals and medication to resolve the child's health problems. Eventually, the parent had to approach other well established organisation, p&c and department of education to seek help. Now the situation is a little bit better but it is still a battle.
My child will also be attending Baulkham Hills next year and I am very worried. My kid also has some health problems that would require the school to make some educational adjustments to cater for his learning needs.
What amazed me the most is that this is a school that has 5 special classes that cater for kids with exceptional needs due to their disabilities. How on earth that they can't even cater for a gifted and talented child with health issues that require adjustments to his educational needs.
This might be one of the top HSC ranking high schools, but if it fails to look after the well-being its students...then...that's beyond grief...

Too much pressure. There is a high chance your kid will come out of this school mentally depressed and unprepared for the real world.
