The school gives a ton of resources but there is a really strange child that for some reason has an obsession over disabilities and he is quite annoying about it. He actively tries to bring the school down with his strangness and I think that instead the school should have a stricter way of selection for children for example (if he's black dont let him in.) |

we're in term 3 and i literally cant do my assessments because they gave us them all at the same time and they're all due at the same time. like girl what. i just submitted my science report and its barely done. watch me get guilt tripped. my math teacher doesn't even teach us well. if you ask him a question hell turn to another student and say "hey can you teach _____ what this means. and ill be like "no that's ur job that's why ur a TEACHer. no one else says anything because the school is so manipulative and treats us like we are so unimportant. |

This school is for those who clearly have more money than sense. The junior levels are mediocre. Certainly not worth the tuition fees charged. When you get past the middle college that’s where the problems begin. The teaching staff are under qualified, ill informed and incapable. I am an expert in my field and highly regarded and was finding that I was correcting my child’s work repeatedly for errors because the teachers didn’t understand the content. They refer to YouTube videos for knowledge and things on Pinterest. A Maths teacher couldn’t solve an algebraic equation and the digital technology teacher couldn’t comprehend why a certain command wouldn’t compute. The arts program is overrated … it will not get you anywhere … with Covid19 where are the arts taking you but to the nearest Centrelink line for job keeper. Sporting fields and tracks please a child can run anywhere and swim anywhere if that’s their inclination it doesn’t have to state of art. Again over rated. COVID-19 has shown us that these do not matter. If the staff are incompetent and the school is toxic, which it is, your child will suffer emotion distress and fail in the real world. This school is has no real world applicability. Don’t waste your money and your child’s performance here. I pulled my children out and thank God I did. |

I really like this school as do my children. Plenty of opportunity for students to express themselves as the school has a top notch arts department, also great sporting opportunities and fantastic technology departments. If your child can’t follow simple guidelines for wearing the uniform and wants to disrupt the learning of others by acting out then their are plenty of other schools that will happily accommodate low standards. My kids actually look forward to going to school. |

I couldn’t go to this school for long. Yes, there’s the saying it’s “not for everyone”. Who is it for then? Robots? Those with no genuine feelings? This is one of the strangest schools around. It’s a cold institution. No heart or soul, no creativity. Restricted, unnatural, cameras in every corner. No freedom to be genuine, to grow, to have passion or empathy. It’s conservative, authoritarian, and nationalistic/patriotic, yet non-religious. Conservative, and yet empty soulless modernism. Alike a totalitarian regime communist Russia or China, yet not, because it values Capitalism. If you want to be a part of privileged society, by denying your genuine value, being detached from nature, and copying the behaviour of robots, this place is for you. Entering this school is like entering a wormhole into another dimension. One that has human characters, but they are androids. They want you to join their strange simulation. Where does Dr Bishop really come from? There’s no other place like it in Queensland.

I’m the parent of a year 12 student and I can quite honestly say how these seniors have been treated through the unprecedented pandemic situation is terrible. These kids are going through The introduction of ATAR and a pandemic and it seems that their mental health and well-being is not a concern. The principal came in after that got back to school after lockdown and told them they were the laziest cohort she’s ever seen. This was based on comments by the head of senior schooling who has no relationship at all with the children. They treat the seniors like primary school kids and not the young adults they are. Honestly I wouldn’t waste your money. |

7 years so far at Sheldon - I just wish the leaders had more humility and stopped patronising parents and teachers. Sheldon here is a reality check: you are just a school (from an academic high achiever ... that comes later). No need for Olympic tracks, kids are happy running anywhere. No need for university-style science facilities for 16-17 year olds. No need for describing your service at every event as a ‘product.’ A good school, tries hard, good for high achievers but others will feel they are failing. |

Took the whole motto of ‘Love, Laughter and Learning’ hook line and sinker. Only to find there is no love. The teachers are some of the most grumpiest, rude and miserable individuals out there. There is no laughter, the rules are so strict it removes any enjoyment from learning. Finally, there is no learning. The curriculum is not adhered to and you are at loss as to what your child is learning. Technology at this school seems to have replaced the intellect of the teachers. Better schools out there for the exorbitant fees they charge!!! |

This is my last year at this school and this school represents everything that is wrong with the world. It has modern facilities but is based on archaic principles where boys are made to tip their hats and girls made to braid their hair and scrub their shoes frantically. The education is sub optimal and the curriculum is never updated and rehashed every year. Students are abused emotionally and ostracised if they are not within their version of right. As a student I hate going here with a passion but it’s my last year and there were no other options. |

We removed our daughter from this school and have placed her into MBGC. Two weeks in and we are already seeing a turn around for the better. Sheldon college is filled with shallow, ill mannered and unqualified educators. They are rude to parents and are uninformed about education in general. My daughter suffered from endless bullying and never felt comfortable. Don’t buy into the false facade of the 3Ls or 4Cs, take the time to look at other schools you and your child will be better off. |

I removed my child from this school due to concerns over the loosely defined curriculum. There is no structure and planning in their teaching. Teachers fail to provide a environment conducive to study. Look elsewhere for quality education. |

Again there were some good friends but most of them turned on me especially for one girl that I absolutely hate now and I wish I never was friends with her. Hope your happy now that I'm gone. I absolutely hate you. I should have known better. My new days were the happiest and the most relieving Ive had since leaving that school. No more "Stinky" and "Rudolph |

I removed my daughter and son from this school in 2019. They only attended the school for two years but those two years was the worst in their schooling history. They were bullied constantly for their ethnic appearance and never felt they could fit in. They never felt welcome. My advice if you are slightly ethnic don’t attend this school. |

This school is entrenched in hypocrisy down to its core. Having to deal with the relentless bullying will make your kids miserable. The biggest bully is the principal. God forbid if your hair is cut too short you will be sent home for a week! Kids are beaten down for the smallest of errors!!! Avoid this school! |

The school is like a concentration camp. God forbid any child tries to show any form of individuality or steps out of line. Love, Laughter and Learning are specifically for the prep and junior schools, after that it all changes. They treat parents the same as students, general lack of respect across the board. High turn over of staff also contributes to the general dismay. Happiest days of our 3 kids lives was when they left at the end of 2019. Avoid at all costs. |

My daughters have attended Sheldon for many years now. My advice, make up your own mind before reading the reviews. When people are angry they tend to post emotionally, it’s easy to be a keyboard warrior. Any school has staff turn over, teachers get pregnant or retire. I’ve had no issues with the turnover. If they hire a teacher who doesn’t work out they replace them. I respect that. I love the high standards and my girls are flourishing. Can’t recommend it enough! |

A school that is not interested in teaching your children. Their only concern is filling their hip pocket. Constant fee increases with no change or improvements to the curriculum. My children failed here but thrived elsewhere. |

This school peaked years ago and has been on a steady decline ever since. It has no idea what it’s doing with ATAR. The high turnover among staff means your child learns very little. Hence why we moved both of our children. |

The school is filled with bogan have me nots. The curriculum is loosely defined and compares poorly with other schools. If your aim is to send your child to an academically rich environment then this school is not for you. As their only main concern is how fast you run and swim and how proficiently you chase after a ball. Switched schools and paid an arm and leg in tutor fees as my child was so far behind in just the basics. My advise ask around and compare academic targets with other schools and you will see how badly they compare. |

Don’t be fooled by this school’s fancy exterior. It is riddled with an ill defined curriculum and high teacher turnover. It is entrenched in hypocrisy. They don’t care about your child’s welfare or studies. They keep raising their fees and the fees aren’t even inclusive of all the tuition your child needs. This school took our money and gave our child nothing but a sub standard education and anxiety. |

Do not send your kids to this school. With the hundred or so cameras positioned all over the school your children will feel like their inmates within a concentration camp. Heavily policed behaviourily so bullying is an extreme sport which teachers and principals can not control or overlook. My girls left this school damaged emotionally and physically. |

It’s not perfect, teachers occasionally act like they have so much power over the students and the rules are sometimes too strict and formal to always adhere to. However, the learning opportunities provided are usually very, very good and the school does a great job of keeping staff and students safe. The strictness and formality will not suit everyone, but the education provided for me has been of a very high quality. |

Moved my son to Sheldon from OC, (where he was miserable!). Best decision we ever made. Friendly, professional admin & support staff, teachers are first-rate - no-nonsense, but fair. Facilities are state-of-the-art, grounds are immaculate & beautiful. We think the 4C’s approach works wonders. Couldn’t be happier. |

It was made clear by Dr. Bishop at the interview that Sheldon College is not for everyone. The support from staff and wonderful environment have made our children feel very welcome. The school fees are comparable to other private schools. You do get what you pay for. Many Sheldon College graduates are now entrepreneurs who have been inspired by the curriculum. |

Sheldon College is the most cliquey school in the Redlands. Students are unwelcoming, rude and brainwashed by the principal and staff. Some may consider this school ‘a cult’ the hypocrisy in the rules is through the roof. I can’t change all of your minds but if you are considering Sheldon College, please, look for other schools. Sheldon College destroys students hopes and dreams and makes them feel like they aren’t good enough. After going to this school I was diagnosed with depression and anxiety.. thanks for nothing sheldon college. |

I have just read the previous negative review & I find it laughable. As the saying goes “those that can do & those that can’t criticise. We are entering our 12th year, as our children commenced in Kindergarten & now entering Yr 10 & Yr 8. They both LOVE Sheldon College. As parents we are more than happy & highly recommend. Like any school, it may not suit everyone but if you are committed to your children’s education & want one of the best environments for learning this is the school for you. The fees are comparable to other private schools & each and every year we see that our money is very well invested on infrastructure as the facilities are superior & world class. Dr Bishop is passionate about Sheldon College & this is reflected thru to the teachers & children alike. Our children are excelling both academically & socially and are confident & proud that we chose Sheldon College. |

The constant need for parents to take time off work to attend never ending events during work hours precludes the ability to hold down a job. Only think about this school if you are a nuclear family (one parent working, one not working), otherwise you’ll be in a constant bind - the fees are unaffordable if you don’t work and yet if you don’t attend the constant events during work hours your children will feel excluded. Teachers are great but the policies are archaic. The fees are completely exclusive of everything, not inclusive as stated on the website so be prepared to pay thousands more than noted. There are no qualified teachers to assist children with special needs (friends of mine were asked to leave due to this) and yet they’ve spent Millions on infrastructure but put nothing back into students. Loved the early years (Kindy and Prep are wonderful). Would not recommend to others based on our experience. |

The reason many criticise this school is because of the hypocrisy that runs rampant. They present as caring and nurturing but they are only this way if your are in prep to yr 2 or if you are a "perfect" student. On the upside, the quality of teaching is often wonderful with some lovely staff. The facilities of course are incredible. However like another parent mentioned there is no common sense when it comes to rules. At times my children felt like they needed permission to breathe. In fact on the first day at his new school my son's teacher couldn't believe that he asked to get up and put a piece of paper in the bin. They tell the children no bullying and yet at awards nights, one of the teachers who considers himself funny openly makes fun of other teachers - often not in a nice way and sets that example for the children. Unfortunately many of the staff also bully the children as well. When I think of this school, I think of the word "suppression". |

I wonder how criticizing parent would manage that number of students. Schools have a curriculum deliver and they can deliver more of it if they are not wasting time pandering to the needs of shades of grey. Think before you criticize. Is being part of a team and learning how to conform important? |

Whilst Sheldon college has fantastic facilities and opportunities for children, there is a major flaw. They run the school by a code named The 4 C's (common sense, courtesy, co-operation and consideration) One of these is not adhered to by staff. That is common sense. When it comes to rules at this school the implementation is over the top. The children are expected to be perfect and consequences do not usually fit the crime. Children are shamed and made an example of and I do ask myself at times, is it worth it - what is the long term damage of bringing a child up to view the world as "black and white" when out there, it is really a whole host of shades of grey. At times, it feels like a version of the town in The Stepford Wives! |

Sheldon is an excellent school for students and parents who are willing to commit to the ethos of the school. High achievement is rewarded and students must be committed to giving their best at whatever level they may be at. Parents need to be committed to supporting the school and being involved with their children. All areas of the school - arts, science and sport are well catered for however the requirement for all music students to be part of an ensemble from the middle years is a little over the top, given we, as parents, are paying for the additional tuition. School fees are not cheap, but given all camps etc.. are included I still consider it good value considering the high standards set in the school. Middle college can be very tough, but the junior and senior colleges are wonderful. |
