Wonderful school. Both daughters loved st Leo’s and excelled academically. Wonderful teachers. Couldn’t be happier as a parent with this school.

I’m an ex student who attended this school 2 years ago. I can strongly say being at St Leo’s was the worst year of my life. I thought it would be a highly educational, sport school which would’ve been great for me with amazing staff and students as their websites and advertising say. Wow was I wrong. Firstly, the education was so poorly set up. The assessments and basic class work. The teachers were terrible at accomodating and managing the students and simply teaching. The sporting teams along with other co curriculums were also very poorly set up. News about events are so hard to find and when you do go to them you can just tell how little effort and preparation went into them. A few of the teachers were actually very mean to students and there were rumours of inappropriate behaviour towards students.
Onto the main reason I left. The students were absolutely disgusting. I was bullied by guys every single day (as a girl) from the moment I stepped into the school. I was sent explicit photos from some of them because they thought they were so cool. I was called disgusting names. I was teased for my appearance. They made an online hate page for me. They would take photos of me and post about me. They all had this idea that women were objects and they could treat them however they wanted. Funny thing was they were about 5 foot tall and looked like year 4’s. Not just the people in my grade but soooo many people definitely more than half the students vaped in school, spoke about dr*gs, having s*x and so much more. I was nothing like this so I didn’t fit in with anyone and all my days alone. As for the girls, they thought the guys were amazing and would swap them around “dating” all of them for a week tops. The girls also all vaped and participated in underage activities. They too thought I was lame for not doing any of this so they would also bully and exclude me. I told the teacher and even principal about all this numerous times and they didn’t do a single thing. My parents had a go at them telling them they’d call the police if they didn’t take action so they started being nicer and watching the bullies but it didn’t change anything.
I could write a 5000 word essay about how I feel about this school and what it did to me. It made me severely depressed and anxious and I’m still recovering. Please if you care about your child and their well-being you will not send them to this school. Leaving made me realise how blessed I am to not have to go there and how great my current school is. Horrible students, staff and facilities.

The subjects are cool
Cooler than Barker’s pool

Disgusting bullies only attend this school.
They should be in prison for what they
did to me at this terrible school.

Absolutely terrible school. I attended years ago. Terrible teachers, bad facilities & opportunities. Was always trying to make itself appear like a private school from the outside by enforcing and constantly monitoring draconian uniform policy (ironically, the uniform is shocking). I think the 'executive' must have sat in the admin block always thinking of what new rules to create.

After the Christian Brothers left the school was never same, I was there to see both systems. What the 'new' regime did to the very passionate and selfless Old Boys (SLOBS) Association was disgusting, totally removed them from anything to do with the school with fever of Pol Pot. There was a mass exodus of good teachers who left around this time. Under the "new' regime , I remember Asian Studies with a language elective Japanese or Bahasa being offered as electives in year 9 and 10 , I remember many of my classmates choose it for the coming year. Yet year after year it was cancelled , we were informed on the first day of the new school year. We were told they could never find teachers for it, hmm oddly enough they were able to find a Latin teacher for the two students that took it for an elective! The Head master loved Latin, and constantly would tell anyone that only Doctors and Lawyers should go to University, lamenting that anyone could attend. The debutante ball was another weird pearler, only gifted students or those from perceived catholic royalty families were chosen to take part, does wonders for self esteem of those left out.

I'll start with stating i'm a current St Leos Student so i'm going to give you an inside perspective on whats currently going on in St Leos.
I have been a student here since 2015 and watch this once great school become an absolute awful learning space. The school began building works at the end of 2016 and since then has been a whole disaster, the school has become a complete building site every room all you will hear construction noise which is incredibly distracting and disruptive to learning not to mention 35% of the school is not even useable.
Which Brings me to my next point of non functional classrooms. The school constructed a large quantity of buildings which wont be done till 2020 (under construction for 4 years) and due to them not being finished the school has resorted to making classrooms out of school basketball courts (Also our school hall) the LOCC. These classrooms are awful the are made with makeshift temporary walls meaning they are thin and sound amplifies all throughout the hall not to mention in the areas where there isn't classrooms, Sport and PDH classrooms continue to operate. This means as well as neighbouring classrooms being side by side of each other with thin walls your are having to try and focus with sport a couple of meters away as well. On some occasions the balls will land over the walls and land on students desks or hit the walls. The school hall (LOCC) is also freezing cold at certain times with no heating and our school not permitting warmer clothes within school grounds. My School oval was once quite large and we would host competitive soccer games against other schools and was very enjoyable to watch. However no there is a fence extending around the entire oval greatly reducing its size, our school no longer hosts these events. There is trucks constantly operating and works around the school with fences everywhere. Our oldest building C blocks top floor was shutdown due to Asbestos and it had holes in the roof where water would leak. The schools organisation is also dreadful to get to the classrooms located next to the library which was also shutdown this year due to mould and building works you have to go through the science block which is one hallway, imagine when its lunch time and you have half the school trying to get to their lockers with one hallway its chaos. Our school chapel is also under construction and has been for the past year. Our Colour houses used to be fantastic and competitive during school events but this is no longer the case we had 4 colour houses evenly split up Tutor rooms but recently the school decided to split it up into 8 this halved all colour houses so now most are so small to even operate during carnivals this makes half to the school not even want to attend carnivals and are usually not competitive at all. The canteen is also extremely overpriced and the food is poor quality.
To summary of my thoughts:
Cons:
1: Constant Construction- Heavy Trucks Equipment Workers
2: Not enough classrooms - Students having to but put in school Hall
3:No library - Repairs - Mould
4:Too many colour houses- Too Small, Non competitive Carnivals
5: School Oval- Construction trucks and fences - Past 2 years
6: C Block - Asbestos Water Leaks - No longer used
7: School Hall - Impossible to focus - Bad Quality Classrooms
8: Overpriced canteen - 3rd Party Company
9: Poor Organisation - One Hallway - To Access half the school
Moving on to some of the positives of my experience of St Leos is the Teachers are very supportive during senior years and you can develop a close relationship with some. There is a good sports program with many gala days and Rep sport opportunities.
Pros:
1: Good Teachers
2: REP Sport and Sport opportunities
I strongly advise that our school needs to be examined and inspected for our currently education quality and classroom quality as it is awful.

Excellent school. I have taught for over 20 years in some of the most exclusive schools in Sydney where parents fork out 6 times as much per year in fees and I can honestly say that Leo's is excellent value for money. You get the academic rigour and the discipline of a private school for a fraction of the cost and in my view, as a teacher, the individualised pastoral care in this school is far superior to the big, expensive schools where I have felt as a teacher that the individual child can be lost (or even worse, just seen in terms of dollar signs). The grounds are currently being totally updated (which is needed), but a school is about more than the carefully manicured oval, it is about the quality of the care. No school is perfect, but this one cares.

Leo's is great! I have wonderful friends and the teachers really care about me and my education. Couldn't be happier.
Happy camper!

So much opportunity...you can do so much. I really enjoy the school and the teachers really care about us and our learning.
Heaps of sport for both boys and girls, excursions, camps each year, musicals, debating, public speaking, overseas trips and loads of Social Justice opportunities.

Great school...love it. The staff are friendly and so professional. We are supported by leadership and are encouraged to push ourselves and our students to achieve our best.

The problem here is that most of the reviewers have never spent time in another high school and have nothing to compare St Leo's with. As a relief teacher I have taught in numerous schools and I can tell you that St. Leo's is an excellent school..its not perfect but far better than some of the other alternatives !

I can't believe my previous and totally honest review was deleted.
So I'll say the things again and see if the criticism can be handled. Horrific bullying when I attended in the 90s. Teachers were not at all effective in resolving.
There were some truly horrible people in my grade whose cruelty was treated as 'kids will be kids'. The teachers are stuck in the conservative past.
A horrible experience that will haunt me and I feel for everyone here who has suffered. Do not recommend.

I wrote the previous review and meant to rate as bad, certainly NOT excellent! That was a fault of the touch screen.

I feel so relieved yet sympathetic reading some of these reviews! I attended in the 90s and without a doubt the experience has scarred and will haunt me for a very long time. Apparently I'm not alone.
The bullying that happened due to the evil little monsters that were in my grade was beyond belief and the teachers did jack squat. The other students who weren't bullies did nothing to help those who suffered though, lest they bring the wrath of their demon-kin upon themselves.
As to the sexist, homophobic, yeah, pretty true. I was taught about contraceptives but the 'SEX IS BAD!' Message was put first before that.
Horrible place, horrible environment, horrible people. Don't subject your children to this nukes you plan to make a therapist very rich someday..
To the others who suffered - know you aren't alone and it's not a reflection on you, only on the horrid nature of those others.

I mean I hate school as a whole because of the fact you have to learn actually things, but coming to st leos wasn't half as bad as I'd expected. I have great friends, a nice year, everyone is really supportive. On one particular occasion a peer of mine was innopropriatley touched by a person in an older grade. This was many many years ago now, but the school handled it very professionally and didn't stop untill these criminals where put to justice. My understanding was that these people where cut off from sport and privileges, which I am pleased to hear. A particular down side of this school, is that it can be a tad sexist. Not by any teachers or students in particular, but rather the system in general. Things include: not letting girls do any other sports except volleyball; putting less girls than boys into sports teams; having only two girls sports teams (apart from aerobics.) I strongly encourage parents to send there child to this school; with the knowledge that a few years ago there was a drug scandle. All I can say is that the school is great; emphasises on good things such as picking up litter; and has a great education programme. I rate this good; for the reasons I have implied. I look forward to my future once graduating in a few years, knowing that leos has done me well.

Im actually moving schools when the school year ends and i will tell u why i am leaving:
1. This school is the biggest waste of money! the fees are crazy expensive for the worst education, teachers and sporting facilities!
2. the grounds are so terrible and small and there is rubbish everywhere, as well as crows and graffiti.
3. the principal and vice arent good and they run the school very poorly
4. since u have all the textbooks on your ipad, the teachers dont know what your doing on their, so tons of kids get a way with playing games in class and not learning anything!
5. the classrooms are terrible and its probably unsafe too because their are holes in the roof and broken asbestos!
6. the uniform is horrible
7. i went on only 1 excursion this year!
8. u only get to choose 2 electives in yr 9 and they are really bad electives
9. a majority of my teachers suck at teaching and i learn nothing!
10. the students are really naughty !
overall, leos isnt even a choice for u. dont even think about sending ur child here unless u dont care about them. u wilol regret sending ur child here because it is the worst learning environment and the classrooms are freazing and a kid nearly dies in my class because a crappy light holder smashed on the ground!
also, the builders who are renovating the school are realy bad and u can always smell smoke!!
PLEASE DO YOUR CHILD A FAVOUR AND DONT SEND THEM HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The vile pukefest that is St Leo's will haunt me until my death. I'd choose death by choking on a bull's penis before ever subjecting my child to this environment. Never put a child in danger.

Went to school here from Years 7 to 12, finishing in 1999, and it was one of the worst experiences of my life, haunting me to this day. The bullying was horrific, the teachers provided nearly no support. I had cancer halfway into Year 11 and decided to tell the entire school, without my families consent, behind our backs when I wasn't even present. Administration may have changed, since the Blanchard administration, but it was nothing short of a living hell for me.

The school encourages morals and values. Supports what is taught in my home. No problems with bulling and has a very helpful principal. Children feel safe and happy

My child suffered sever bullying from not only students but also teachers at this terrible 'school'. Would not recomend. Horrible education. Clearly the Catholic system has not changed since I went to school in the 70's. Such a shame.....

absolutely aweful! the bullying was out of control, the teachers were unintelligent, no excusrions, no decent electicves. forced religion, no lessons on mental health, contraception because they "don't believe in it". Aweful pastoral care, which they pride themselves on. very poor facilities, no fans in some classrooms. expencive and useless. WORST 3 YEARS OF MY LIFE! stay away from this terrible school. bad cant even explain how much pain and suffering this scholl, its staff and uncontrollable students have caused me. what a waste of parents money. they teach like it is still the 1700s. STAY AWAY. get a good education elsewhere, you WILL NOT find it as st leos. nothing saint like about it. -1000 out of 10
